Others say post-pandemic patients are just more aware of coughing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coughs are common during every winter virus season. But this year it seems like more people than usual are complaining about a cough that just won\u2019t go away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cathy Conger, 60, who works at a vintage furniture store in Washington, said she\u2019s had a persistent cough for a month now after traveling over the holidays. She often wakes up coughing in the middle of the night. \u201cI\u2019m probably going to just keep the bowl of cough drops by my bed,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adam Tampio, a 16-year-old who lives in Alexandria, Va., said he\u2019s had \u201ca really bad cough\u201d since he caught a cold in the middle of December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On social media \u2014 TikTok, Bluesky and Threads \u2014 people are also commiserating about their persistent coughs. Bryan Jun, 26, who lives in New York, complained about his lingering cough on TikTok last month, in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@thebryanjun\/video\/7312559022886915374\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video<\/a>&nbsp;that\u2019s garnered more than 7 million views. \u201cI\u2019m coughing in Georgia,\u201d wrote one viewer. \u201cEveryone is coughing in New Jersey,\u201d wrote another.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington Post Some doctors say lingering coughs are worse than usual this winter.
