The outbreak was confirmed after 18-year-old Cadet Cristopher Blanco V\u00e1squez died from the influenza type A virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The surge in infections has raised alarms among district health officials, given that 268 members of this prestigious academy have been exposed to the virus. From the 268 exposed confirmed cases, 103 are symptomatic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A strict quarantine is in effect at the country\u2019s largest military institution starting February 5 to 14. The District Health Secretariat is actively monitoring and implementing measures to contain the outbreak beyond the confines of the academy.
