A day after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it had yet to identify \u201ca clear source\u201d of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/health\/health-news\/person-infected-bird-flu-missouri-no-contact-animals-know-rcna170010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infection in a Missouri patient<\/a>&nbsp;who tested positive for the bird flu virus, the agency quietly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/flu\/weekly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disclosed in its weekly influenza report<\/a>&nbsp;that a close contact was sick around the same time as the Missouri patient but was not tested for influenza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Missouri patient, who was hospitalized in August, had no known contact with poultry or dairy cows. \u201cOne close contact of the patient was also ill at the same time, was not tested, and has since recovered,\u201d the agency wrote in its FluView report Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A CDC spokesperson said in an email Friday the close contact was within the household of the Missouri patient and developed symptoms that weren\u2019t typical of flu.
