But while most people are familiar on some level with infections like&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prevention.com\/health\/a40514257\/lyme-disease-symptoms-tips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lyme disease<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prevention.com\/health\/health-conditions\/a22128841\/rocky-mountain-spotted-fever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever<\/a>, there\u2019s a new tick-borne infection to have on your radar. It\u2019s called Wetland virus, and it\u2019s a newly-discovered illness spotted in China that has the potential to invade the brain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the main takeaway from a new scientific report published in\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa2313722\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The New England Journal of Medicine<\/a>.<\/em>\u00a0For the study, scientists in China analyzed hospital data on patients who visited the hospital with a fever and a history of tick bites.
