That\u2019d be bad. The situation didn\u2019t quite match the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/opinion\/articles\/2024-05-08\/how-can-bird-flu-spread-to-humans-through-pigs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nightmare scenario<\/a>&nbsp;some experts described to me last spring, in which this virus starts rampaging through commercial pigs. But it\u2019s worrisome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spreading through big, industrial pig farms would give the virus ample opportunity to evolve into a form capable of causing a pandemic in humans. Pigs remain at the center of scientists\u2019 nightmare scenario because commercial swine carry lots of human flu viruses.
