Despite having contended with a pandemic that broke out less&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/museum\/timeline\/covid19.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">than five years ago<\/a>, the US has no solid plan to handle a new one \u2014 nor have our leaders done anything to incorporate the lessons learned from the government\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/graphics\/2023-opinion-lessons-learned-from-covid-pandemic-global-comparison\/?sref=8SU5LPWa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">less-than-ideal<\/a>&nbsp;handling of Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/03\/13\/politics\/covid-anniversary-what-matters\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Too many<\/a>\u00a0Americans died from Covid because the public health community took too long to issue warnings, was slow to create tests to assess the situation, and was sluggish in shifting its response to fit the data on airborne transmission.
