Here\u2019s What\u2019s Going Around"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7205057\/cold-flu-season-2025-rsv\/\">Time<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The holidays came with a side of flu for many Americans, with 40 states reporting high or very high levels of illness last week, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/fluview\/surveillance\/2024-week-52.html\">latest government health data<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA lot of flu out there,\u201d said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention&#8217;s Carrie Reed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, there are a number of bugs that cause fever, cough, sore throat, and other flu-like symptoms. One is COVID-19. Another is RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus, which is a common cause of cold-like symptoms but can be dangerous for infants and the elderly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most recent CDC hospitalization&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/resp-net\/dashboard\/?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fsurveillance%2Fresp-net%2Fdashboard.html\">data<\/a>&nbsp;and other indicators show that the flu virus is trending higher than the other germs, Reed said.
