Flu cases are surging across the nation, closing nearly a dozen schools and swamping hospitals in some states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At least 24 million cases, 310,000 hospitalizations and 13,000 deaths \u2014 57 of them children \u2014 have been reported for this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/fluview\/surveillance\/2025-week-05.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flu season, which began in October<\/a>, according to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ten states and New York City are experiencing the highest level of flu activity, according to the CDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New York City, reported more than 51,000 positive flu tests during the week ending Jan. 25, a 6 percent increase from the previous week.
