Since then, the number of cases have increased every year, jumping substantially in 2023 (the last year of data available from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/candida-auris\/tracking-c-auris\/index.html?2023=2023\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>). Recently, cases have proliferated in Georgia, the state\u2019s health department told local news outlet\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjcl.com\/article\/candida-auris-drug-resistant-fungus\/64096081\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"WJCL, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WJCL<\/a>.
