The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says an adult in southwestern Colorado has tested positive. The adult lives in Archuleta County, and it hasn&#8217;t been confirmed if the person is vaccinated or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evidence is showing it&#8217;s likely not linked to the first two confirmed cases in 2025 in Colorado. Those cases are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/colorado\/news\/first-measles-case-confirmed-pueblo-colorado\/\">in Pueblo<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/colorado\/news\/child-denver-county-measles-mexico-colorado\/\">in Denver<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the first time in more than a decade that the state has confirmed this many&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/measles-outbreak-us-map\/\">active measles cases<\/a>&nbsp;at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Measles is caused by a highly contagious virus that&#8217;s airborne and spreads easily when an infected person breathes, sneezes or coughs.
