There have been 1,024 confirmed cases of measles across 30 states so far this year, according to the latest&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/measles\/data-research\/index.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"update, opens in a new window\">update<\/a>&nbsp;from the CDC on Friday, increasing by 23 cases over the previous week and far surpassing the 285 measles cases in total reported in 2024 (the CDC does not provide data on how many cases are actively infectious).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Texas Department of State Health Services&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dshs.texas.gov\/news-alerts\/measles-outbreak-2025\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"reported, opens in a new window\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;Friday its number of measles cases, which date back to late January, had grown to 722, with 92 patients being hospitalized and two school-aged children confirmed dead from the illness since the start of the state\u2019s outbreak.<\/p>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"\/secure-location.php\" style=\"display: none;\" title=\" qR H r iZj  wVba pq\"><!--  qR H r iZj  wVba pq --><\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Forbes Texas has reported over 700 measles cases since January, according to the latest numbers from the state\u2019s health department, representing the bulk of measles cases that have been reported in the U.S. this year.
