Tips for Creating Human-Centric Learning Experiences<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Creating learning experiences that are more humanized is become ever-critical.\u00a0Many faculty, staff, and students are eager to implement and discover new approaches to learning.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By creating a more connected course experience for students, you are establishing a sense of care and community that will inspire and enable more students to be successful\u00a0 \u2013 without lowering outcomes. This interactive session<\/a> will provide you with multiple ideas, examples, and resources to easily create more welcoming and humanized courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning Objectives<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Examine how a humanized learning approach is critical for some while effective for all students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Apply purposeful learning and its elements to inform creation of courses and experiences that are more humanized and inclusive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Create an implementation strategy for designing more humanized course elements (i.e. syllabus) and experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Discuss approaches in learning to embrace cultural diversity and individual differences for a more inclusive and equitable transformative experience.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    GUEST EXPERT, Brett Christie, PhD<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Dr. Brett Christie has worked in higher education for over 25 years, leading campus and system efforts related to teaching-learning effectiveness, particularly in service of the greatest number and diversity of students succeeding. These efforts have included federal and state grants on large-scale course redesign, instructional technology implementation, online modalities, and inclusive teaching practices. Dr. Christie currently serves as Vice President for Learning Design at O\u2019Donnell Learn, where he leads design and implementation of teaching effectiveness and learning outcomes efforts with a wide range of institutional partners and organizations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
