Ph Monitoring

Ph monitoring determines whether there may be an abnormal amount of acid coming back up into the esophagus. During the monitoring, you should continue your normal activity and diet. There are three types of ph monitoring. The type of ph monitoring will be determined by your ordering physician.

Standard ph probe is performed by inserting a very small ph tube into the nose and passing it into the esophagus. The ph probe will be in place close to 24 hrs. You will return the next day to have it removed.
