Kelly Caverzagie

Kelly Caverzagie, MD, is a professor of Internal Medicine and serves as associate dean for educational strategy and learning environment for the UNMC College of Medicine and vice president for education at Nebraska Medicine.

Dr. Caverzagie has expertise in the assessment of learners with a focus on competency-based medical education. He has served in many leadership roles for national and state health advocacy organizations including as a member of the AMA House of Delegates and Council on Medical Education. He is also a member of the ACGME Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the International Conference on Residency Education.

Dr. Caverzagie practices as an academic hospitalist where he enjoys teaching complex decision-making and communication skills in difficult situations, and issues surrounding health care policy, health system redesign, education reform and the hidden curriculum. He continues to push innovation as well as personal and professional growth in his resident and student trainees.
