Urologic Oncology

This program brings together the expertise of individuals from multiple disciplines (radiation oncology, surgical oncology and medical oncology) who have a specific interest in malignancies of the urologic system (prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancers). Assisted by the state-of-the-art technology available at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, we provide cutting edge therapies, both in standard-of-care as well as in clinical research, to patients diagnosed with any of these cancers.

Medical Oncology

Medical oncologists specialize in the treatment of patients with cancers using drugs of different types. At times, medical oncologists will refer patients to surgeons or radiation oncologists as part of the treatment plan. The medical oncology faculty and staff of the urologic oncology program are part of the Division of Oncology/Hematology, which is in the Department of Internal Medicine at UNMC. Each oncologist in the division specializes in specific cancer types.

Located on the Omaha campus, and affiliated with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center is the only cancer center in the region that has received a National Cancer Institute designation. In collaboration with researchers in all oncology specialties, the clinicians from the Urologic Oncology Program at UNMC strive to advance research in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of patients with urologic malignancies.
