Neurocritical Care

Neurocritical Care is one of the newest and fastest growing disciplines in Medicine. It is specialized care for critically ill patients with Neurologic injury. UNMC/Nebraska Medicine, which has the only Neurosciences Critical Care Unit in Nebraska, provides state-of-the-art monitoring technology and innovative treatments from board-certified Neurointensivists – physicians who are specialty trained and certified in the care of critically ill patients with neurological illnesses. Dr. Amol Patil and Dr. Daryl Gress, and our dedicated team of Advance Practitioners and Fellows, provide 24/7 care and consultation for our patients and regional referral centers from SD, Western IA and CO.

We have a dedicated 16-bed NeuroICU with a 12-bed stepdown unit where we co-manage patients with Neurosurgeons, Neurologists, Trauma Surgeons, Vascular Surgeons and other specialists.
