John J. Harrington, MD, MPH, Associate Professor

Program Director: 

John J. Harrington, M.D., MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy.  He joined the division in October 2014. 

Dr. Harrington completed his Internal Medicine residency at Creighton University in Omaha, NE and a Geriatric Medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.  He completed a Sleep Medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.  Dr. Harrington serves as the Program Director for the Sleep Medicine Fellowship and attends in the Adult Sleep Medicine Clinic.   

Dr. Harrington’s research interests include obstructive sleep apnea and CPAP adherence.  

Michael O. Summers, MD

Medical Director:

Michael O. Summers, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  He practices both Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine.  Dr. Summers sees patients with a wide variety of both sleep and pulmonary disorders. 

After graduating from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Dr. Summers completed his Internal Medicine residency and his Pulmonary, Critical Care Medicine fellowship at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.  He went on to complete a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. 

The last few years, Dr. Summers has been focused on improving patient outcomes utilizing information technology in physician decision support, and improving patient care and quality outcomes. 

Dr. Summers has authored an article on insomnia.

Sabin R. Bista, MBBSSabin R. Bista, MBBS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  He practices Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. 

Dr. Bista sees patients in the Sleep Clinic as well as inpatients on the Pulmonary Medicine Service, Critical Care Medicine Service at NMC, and both Pulmonary and Critical Care at Bellevue Medical Center and consultant to inpatients at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. 

After graduating from the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  He completed his Sleep Medicine Fellowship and his Pulmonary, Critical Care Fellowship at UNMC.
