What is the furthest you've travelled from Omaha? (Why did you go there!?)
I studied Spanish for a month in Salamanca, Spain. We did a lot of traveling throughout the country while we were there, but the most memorable was celebrating Spain's win over Germany while in the Plaza de Colon in Madrid for the 2008 Euro Cup Final. It was a new take on the "Sea of Red" that we are use to here in Nebraska on "fútbol americano" game days.

If you couldn't work in medicine, what would you do?
I would go to culinary school, embark on a lifelong world food tasting tour (either through travel or via the compilation of ingredients from my own kitchen) and then open a small restaurant and share what I have learned.

Best thing to do in Nebraska if you only had one day?
Find a local farmer (if you're lucky I'll refer you to my Dad, Farmer Fred) convince him/her to [sell you]/[work for] some of their gold crop sweet corn. Take it home. Husk it. Boil/grill it. Butter it. Enjoy. Repeat.

Most fond residency experience or memory up to this point?
On one of our busiest call nights at the VA last spring, one of our medical students helped to lighten the task of documentation by serving as "DJ" in our team room. By the end of the call shift we were able to walk out of the hospital feeling accomplished from practicing (serious) medicine and from being granted personally designated and appropriately fitting theme songs. From that night on he earned his new title as "DJD".
