Undergraduate and graduate practicum experiences are available on a short or long-term basis.
Clinical experiences allow students to:
- Learn educational and standardized assessments typically used with children birth-5 years of age such as the Bayley Scales of Infant Development, The Preschool Language Scales, Ages and Stages Questionnaire, Bracken School Readiness Assessment, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test and Teaching Strategies GOLD
- Gain observation skills associated with classroom strategies and quality such as the Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS & ITERS), Teaching Pyramid Observation Tools (TPOT), and Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS)
- An intervention team that conducts home visits for young children (birth through age 3) with a wide range of disabilities
- Gain experience in coaching parents and teachers regarding childrens' development and interactions
- Gain experience working on an interdisciplinary team to complete Individualized Education Plans (IEP)
- Contribute to an evaluation of the development of young children with an intensive care unit experience
Include a 10-month master’s level experience sponsored by the MMI Guild. In addition to clinical requirements, trainees participate in the Leadership Education for Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities program.

Community Education
Other community education and outreach activities include:
- consultation to the Nebraska Department of Education
- presentations at state and national meetings to promote high quality program evaluations, parent engagement, parent-school partnerships, high-quality early childhood settings, parent-child interaction and early childhood social-emotional competence.
