Having a child with special needs created a whole new journey for our family. Working with health care, educational and behavioral professionals seemed daunting and so far over our heads. After all, we were young parents with little experience raising a child, let alone a child with special needs. As a Parent Resource Coordinator, my goal is to help families understand, navigate and advocate within these systems, not only for their child but for the family as a whole. As a parent with a special needs child, I am committed to offering guidance and support to families seeking resources that will facilitate positive growth and outcomes during the earliest and most important years of their child’s development and contribute to families feeling heard, helped and hopeful.
