Professional Summary
Danita Velasco, MD, FACMG, is a Clinical Geneticist and Assistant Professor in the department of Pediatrics and the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation. She is board certified in Pediatrics and board eligible in Clinical Genetics. Dr. Velasco completed medical school and pediatric residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She then served as the Chief resident for the pediatric residency for one year before pursuing additional training in Clinical Genetics. Dr. Velasco now serves as the medical student and resident education facilitator for the clinical genetics rotation at UNMC.
Dr. Velasco is interested in phenotypic and molecular delineation of all rare disorders. She is involved with the cleft palate clinics and multiple general genetics clinics in the Omaha and Lincoln metro area. Additionally, she is interested in improving access to specialty care for rural Nebraska and does outreach clinic in Scottsbluff.
