Professional Summary

Jennifer Sanmann, Ph.D., FACMG, is the Director of the Human Genetics Laboratory and an Assistant Professor at the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation. She also has courtesy appointments in the Department of Pediatrics and the College of Allied Health Professions. She is board certified in both Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) and is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG). Dr. Sanmann completed her doctoral work and fellowships at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Dr. Sanmann’s research uses a variety of cytogenetics and molecular genetic techniques, including conventional chromosome analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), chromosomal microarray, and gene sequencing, to improve our understanding of the relationship between genotype and phenotype in both constitutional and oncologic conditions. To aid in her research efforts, Dr. Sanmann maintains her certifications through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Molecular Biology (MB) and in Cytogenetics (CG). In addition, she is a certified Cytogenetics Inspector and Team Leader through the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Dr. Sanmann currently serves as the President for the Great Plains Chapter of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA). She also served on the 2018 Biennial American Cytogenetics Conference (ACC) Program Committee.
