Kristen Hembree, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation. She received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Lehigh University and completed her internship and post-doctoral training at the Munroe-Meyer Institute. Dr. Hembree conducts her clinic in an integrated behavioral health clinic at Dundee Pediatrics. Her clinical interests include externalizing and internalizing disorders, childhood sleep problems, pediatric health issues, anticipatory guidance, and group-based interventions for adolescents with anxiety and depression. Her research interests focus on demonstrating the effectiveness of the integrated behavioral health model and understanding how integrated behavioral health care improves child, adolescent, and family outcomes. Specifically, she is interested in factors related to changes in medical utilization and cost, clinical improvement, access to behavioral health care, and patient and physician satisfaction. Additionally, Dr. Hembree is interested in the impact of anticipatory guidance in primary care on improving positive parenting practices. Through the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN), in partnership with the UNMC High School Alliance, Dr. Hembree also assists in the development and implementation of a curriculum for high school students interested in careers in behavioral health. Dr. Hembree supervises post-doctoral fellows, pre-doctoral interns, Ph.D. students, and Masters level students in clinical settings.
