Professional Summary

Gail, Interim Director of MMI’s Department of Occupational Therapy, is an occupational therapist with 19 years of experience in a variety of areas to include acute care, skilled rehabilitation, home health, lymphedema, school-based and outpatient therapy for adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Gail developed and expanded three occupational therapy clinic sites in Omaha and Wahoo, Nebraska before joining Munroe-Meyer as a school-based therapist in 2006. In addition to providing school-based therapy for ages 3 to 21, she provided occupational therapy services through the Muscular Dystrophy Care Centers of Omaha and Lincoln, as the clinic occupational therapist in a multidisciplinary clinic setting for neuromuscular diseases, categorized as Muscular Dystrophies. She expanded the Mobility and Assistive Technology (MAT) clinic, to provide comprehensive evaluations for determining the best mobility device and adaptive/assistive equipment for people of all ages throughout the lifespan. Gail received her Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification in 2013. Currently, she is working with MMI’s Departments of Physical Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology to expand services for adults with a developmental/genetic/physical disability, to include looking at ways to increase independent living skills using assistive technology and adaptive equipment in a simulated smart home environment.
