Professional Summary

McKenzie Sprowls-Bush, PLMHP, is a pre-doctoral intern in the Rural Care Program-North in the department of psychology at the Munroe-Meyer at UNMC providing services in the Rural Integrated Care Clinic.

McKenzie (Kenzie or Kenz) was born and raised in Oklahoma. She has been married for nearly five years and they share a fur baby named Leo! During the weekend she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going on long walks, and trying out new coffee shops. In her clinical practice, she is passionate about working with young children, adolescents and their families. As a science-practitioner, she believes it is important to integrate research in her practice to ensure the best treatment outcomes. By integrating research, she is able to communicate hope for change and timeliness in services. She approaches case conceptualization through a biopsychosocial, developmental, evidence-based lens and relies heavily on cognitive-behavior therapy. She also uses many strength-based therapy techniques and attempts to empower her clients by closely examining their internal strengths and support systems. All of her clinical experiences have involved working within an interdisciplinary team serving at-risk and diverse families who have experienced traumatic events. She always considers the systems surrounding the client, such as their family, school, peers, and sociocultural backgrounds when building rapport and approaching treatment options. McKenzie is currently pursuing her Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Oklahoma City University.
