Professional Summary
Meaghan Ferrick, EdS, EdM, PLMHP, is a predoctoral intern at the Munroe Meyer Institute within the Intertribal Behavioral Health Program. She is currently providing mental and behavioral health services to individuals across the lifespan in the school, tribal college, community health center and mental health clinic setting with Morningstar Counseling and Consultation in Walthill, NE. Meaghan joins MMI from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA where she is currently completing her PhD in School Psychology. She has experiencing working with diverse populations and age groups across a spectrum of settings including K-12 schools, outpatient clinics, a juvenile rehabilitation center, a hospital-based OCD intensive outpatient program, and a sexual assault resource center. Her primary clinical interest is the treatment of trauma-related disorders among youth with complex trauma histories and multisystemic needs.
Meaghan has advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and has sought to make this treatment more accessible to historically underserved populations by delivering DBT-informed upstream preventative services in the classroom and integrating DBT principles and skills into school-based behavior intervention for adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders. She helped develop a wellness and resilience course at the University of Washington that aims to train undergraduate students with evidence-based skills from DBT, ACT, and CBT for managing emotions, coping with stress and adversity, and increasing well-being. Prior to her clinical work, Meaghan was a teacher for 5 years. As an educator, she partnered with the Quileute and Makah tribes on the Washington Coast to develop prevention and intervention programs and project-based learning opportunities for Native youth that incorporated cultural sources of resilience and knowledge and celebrated tribal self-determination.
