Professional Summary
Emily Drew is a Physical Therapist in the department of physical therapy at the UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute. Emily has been a longtime member of the physical therapy team at Munroe-Meyer Institute, treating pediatric clients (ages birth through 21) in a variety of settings including school-based, early intervention and outpatient clinics. She received her Board Certification in Pediatric Physical Therapy in 2009. She has been a clinical instructor for 12 years and is an APTA Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor. She serves as the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education as well as faculty member of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program. In addition to these roles she is a guest lecturer at the UNMC Physical Therapy pediatrics course with content expertise in standardized testing, problem based learning and early intervention. She has co-authored a gross motor manual for early childhood educators titled “1, 2, 3…Move with Me” which provides the gross motor component for the preschool curriculum in Omaha area schools. Although her most fulfilling job is being a mother to her two young children, practicing in pediatrics is a close second. Helping a child realize they can move for the first time or assisting parents to understand and embrace their child’s needs and abilities are a couple of the many reasons why Emily chooses to practice in and teach about this very unique area of physical therapy.
