The department of Speech-Language Pathology provides part-time, semester-long graduate pre-externships to gain experience in specialty areas, including:

This department also provides full-time graduate medical externships in acute care to gain experience in a wide-range of assessment and treatment experiences related to speech, language, voice, dysphagia and cognition. Students will gain knowledge and skills required to support hospitalized children and adults who have acquired difficulties related to a trauma, rely on a tracheostomy and/or ventilator, have had a head and neck cancer or suffered a neurological event, etc.

Additionallly, ongoing guest lectures are provided in undergraduate and graduate speech-language pathology courses at four universities: UNMC, UNO, College of St. Mary and Creighton University.
