Professional Summary

Jennifer Sanmann, Ph.D., FACMG, is Director of the Warren G. Sanger Human Genetics Laboratory and Associate Professor at the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation. She also has courtesy appointments in the Department of Pediatrics and the College of Allied Health Professions. She is board certified in both clinical cytogenetics and clinical molecular genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) and is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG). Dr. Sanmann completed her doctoral work and fellowships at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and currently serves as Training Director (molecular genetics) for the Laboratory Genetics and Genomics Fellowship at UNMC.

Dr. Sanmann’s research uses a variety of cytogenetics and molecular genetic techniques, including conventional chromosome analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), chromosomal microarray, and gene sequencing, to improve our understanding of the relationship between genotype and phenotype in both constitutional and oncologic conditions. To aid in her research efforts, Dr. Sanmann maintains her certifications through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Molecular Biology (MB) and in Cytogenetics (CG). In addition, she is a certified Cytogenetics Inspector and Team Leader through the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Dr. Sanmann currently serves as the President for the Great Plains Chapter of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA). She also serves as the lymphoma liaison on Cytogenetics Steering Committee for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and is an approved cytogeneticist for the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB) Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.
