Postnatal Testing

Because of the overlap in genotype and phenotype among various genetic conditions, more than one genetic test is often necessary to determine the underlying genetic cause of a patient’s clinical features. It can often be time-consuming and logistically difficult for clinicians and their support teams to coordinate testing at multiple laboratories for a single patient. To alleviate this stress, our laboratory provides comprehensive genetic testing services, ranging from conventional cytogenetic analysis to gene sequencing, for patients in the postnatal setting. Additionally, our team is familiar with current practice guidelines and literature routinely used to appropriately tier the indicated genetic tests.

Genetic counseling services

In the increasingly complex field of genetic diagnostic testing, genetic counselors serve as a vital link between the laboratory and the clinician. As part of our comprehensive services, the Human Genetics Laboratory team includes licensed and board-certified genetic counselors to assist providers and their patients.  Our genetic counselors have current clinical experience as well as dedicated areas of expertise, ranging from prenatal and postnatal genetics to oncology.
