Pediatric and Family Medicine residents and senior Medical Students are trained in developmental and behavioral pediatrics by faculty in the Developmental Medicine Department at MMI. Residents and students participate in a variety of clinics and educational activities within the department and observe other interdisciplinary services provided at MMI. They are trained to identify and manage behavioral, emotional and developmental problems in children and youth with special health care needs. In addition, residents observe MMI psychologists providing behavioral services and learn the hands-on application of behavioral interventions. Residents are required to research a topic and give a presentation during a developmental medicine seminar. All residents participate in Project DOCC and may attend MMI's Leadership Seminar Series, Clinical Topics Seminar and case conferences. A variety of supplemental learning materials are also provided.
