Lab Facilities

Exercise Testing

The ENL has dedicated space in the Student Life Center equipped for movement-related research. Resources include ParvoMedics TrueOne 2400 metabolic measurement system, programmable TrackMaster treadmill, WelchAllyn Q-Stress Cardiac Stress Electrocardiogram (ECG) system, sphygmomanometers, training table, stadiometer, Polar heart rate monitors, activPAL4 accelerometers, and Actigraph GT9X Link accelerometers. The ENL exercise lab is adjacent to the Clinical Movement Analysis Laboratory, a state-of-the-art biomechanics lab housing Qualisys camera-based movement analysis system, Bertec force platforms, Biodex electromechanical dynamometer, Delsys wireless electromyography analysis systems, and NeuroCam dynamic posturography analysis system.

Neurocognitive Testing

The ENL utilizes shared neuroscience research resources, including a research-dedicated electroencephalography (EEG) system housed in the Department of Neurological Sciences and a Siemens 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner housed in the Center for Advanced MRI (CAMRI). We also utilize BrainBaseline Lab, (Digital Artefacts, Iowa City, IA) a mobile, iPad-based neurocognitive testing platform to measure cognitive function in our studies. We have collaborated with Digital Artefacts on multiple research projects on physical activity, cancer, and cognition.
