The Department of Neurosurgery provides each resident with operative loupes and a personalized lead apron.  Each resident is also allotted $300 for educational literature, license, dues, or attending appropriate educational sessions.

In addition to monetary support, each resident is also provided a travel package to attend national and regional meetings.

Residents take the written portion of the American Board of Neurological Surgery exam during the PGY-2 and PGY-3 years for self-evaluation and in the PGY-5 year for credit. We send our PGY-4 and PGY-5 residents to conferences and meetings to facilitate their success on the written board examination. These supplemental activities include the Chicago Review Course and the Washington Neuroradiology/Dr. Kenneth M. Earle Memorial Neuropathology Review Course.
