The University of Nebraska Medical Center is set to open applications for its next round of federal pandemic relief funding.
In 2022, the Nebraska Legislature set aside $25.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska.
"The pandemic highlighted and exacerbated the urgent need to strengthen our state’s behavioral health workforce,” Marley Doyle, MD, director of BHECN, said in a statement. “We welcome all organizations and providers to apply for funding to help us improve access to behavioral health care in Nebraska."
There's about $5.5 million remaining, which will be distributed to projects in four areas.
- Telebehavioral health support in rural areas
- Behavioral health training opportunities
- Behavioral health workforce projects for students and professionals
- Money for licensed behavioral health supervisors already employed in the state
Applicants in Nebraska can request funding for up to three years. Click here to learn more.
