WOMEN’S HOSPITAL. GRADUATING FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT. AND ONE MED GRADS PARENTS MADE SURE ALL OF BELLEVUE COULD SEE HOW PROUD THEY ARE OF THEIR SON’S ACHIEVEMENTS. I DON’T LIKE SEEING MY FACE LIKE 20FT. THIS IS DOCTOR RYAN BOYLAND. AND THIS IS DR. RYAN BOYLAN’S BILLBOARD. I’M JUST SO HAPPY FOR HIM. THE BILLBOARD WAS BOYLAN’S MOM. MICHELLE’S IDEA. OUR CHURCH IS RIGHT DOWN THE STREET. HIS HIGH SCHOOL IS RIGHT DOWN THE STREET. IT’S TEN YEARS THIS MONTH FOR HIM SINCE HE’S GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL. SO THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD BE THE PERFECT SPOT. BOYLAN SHIED AWAY FROM ANY CELEBRATIONS, WANTING TO REMAIN QUIET ABOUT HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS. HIS PARENTS HAD OTHER PLANS AND REMEMBER ASKING HIM ABOUT A PARTY. AND I’M LIKE, WE NEED TO CELEBRATE, YOU AND HIM NOT WANTING THAT. I’M LIKE, YOU KNOW, NO, HE WAS LIKE, I HADN’T DONE ANYTHING. I’M LIKE, WHAT? YES, YOU HAVE DONE MORE THAN A LOT OF PEOPLE. THEY WANTED THE WHOLE COMMUNITY TO SEE THEIR SON’S SUCCESS. PRIDE DEFINITELY PRIDE. I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. BOYLAN’S FATHER, ROOSEVELT, SAYS HIS SON IS AN ACADEMIC PIONEER. HE’S THE FIRST DOCTOR IN HIS FAMILY. RYAN WAS THE SECOND BLACK VALEDICTORIAN OF BELLEVUE EAST HIGH SCHOOL. HIS BROTHER WAS THE FIRST. SO THIS IS A GOOD SPOT TO CONTINUE TO MOTIVATE HIS PEERS AND YOUNG PEOPLE COMING UP TO LET THEM KNOW THAT THEY CAN ASPIRE TO DO GREAT THINGS. NOW THAT GRADUATION IS OVER, BOYLAND IS GEARING UP FOR HIS RESIDENCY AT DENVER HEALTH, FOCUSING ON EMERGENCY MEDICINE. HE SAYS HE WANTS TO INSPIRE OTHERS LIKE HIM TO FOLLOW THEIR DREAMS. YOU CAN’T BE WHAT YOU CAN’T SEE AND SO HOPEFULLY PROVIDING AN EXAMPLE FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO MAYBE MOTIVATE THEMSELVES TO GET INTO HEALTHCARE OR REALIZE THAT THEY CAN GET INTO HEALTHCARE AND BE A DOCTOR, I THINK THAT’S VERY IMPORTANT. YEAH, AND YOU CAN SEE THE BILLBOARD FOR YOURSELF THROUGH THE REST OF THIS MONTH. IT LOOKS EAST ON HARVEST DRIVE, RIGHT BY BELLEVUE UNIVERSITY. OH, MY GOODNESS. GREAT STORY. MY MOM HAS NO SHAME. NO, SHE’S LESS. WHAT? THAT’S MY BABY. YEAH. AND IT’S UP FOR THE MONTH
