This year\u2019s recipients were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CBY Teacher of the Year \u2013 Christopher Bingcang, MD, and Jayme Dowdall, MD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CA1 Teacher of the Year \u2013 Kristin Wakin, MD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CA2 Teacher of the Year \u2013 Stephen Brannan, MD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CA3 Teacher of the Year \u2013 Sean Karre, MD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Teacher of the Year \u2013 Troy Wildes, MD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Critical Care Anesthesiology Teacher of the Year \u2013 Thomas Perry, DO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pediatric Anesthesiology Teacher of the Year \u2013 Stephanie Shin, MD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pediatric Congenital Cardiac Anesthesiology Teacher of the Year \u2013 Kerri George, MD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Certificates of Academic Excellence were awarded to the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alec Seei, DO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jeremy Payne, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Zachary (Zach) Schell, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elizabeth Ternent-Rech, DO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kevin Rance, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Megan (Meg) Rolfzen, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Michael Blaha, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jae Cauble, DO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Michael Dancer, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jocelyn Mulkey, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>John Riley III, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blaine Schlawin, DO (pediatric anesthesiology fellow)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apollo Stack, MD (pain medicine fellow)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Resident chiefs Drs. Dancer and Meyer each were presented a plaque recognizing their year of service to the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education, Chandrakanth Are, MBBS, presented Peter Pellegrino, MD, PhD, the Graduate Medical Education Committee House Officer of the Year Award. The annual award is based on nominations from program directors and votes by faculty, house officers and medical students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese awards are given to those who have excelled based on rigorous metrics and only four are awarded out of approximately 700 house officers at UNMC.\u201d Dr. Are said. \u201cThis award is not only a testament to your hard work but a reflection of the amazing leadership in the anesthesiology department.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2023\/05\/11\/anthony-stephenson-md-named-brad-paulson-award-recipient\/\">Brad Paulson Memorial Award<\/a> \u2013 given to an outstanding medical student pursuing a UNMC residency in anesthesiology &#8211; went to Anthony Stephenson, MD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Dutoit congratulated the graduates for their clinical and academic excellence, as well as their overall attitude, leadership, perseverance and camaraderie. \u201cIt has been a privilege and honor to be a part of your training,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department presented each graduate with a diploma, monogrammed blanket and a framed word collage with praise from mentors and colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Graduating residents, and their post-graduation plans, are as
