Ever wonder what goes into making cheese? Find out June 21 when the Nebraska Science Festival hosts a pop-up event titled the \u201cScience of Cheese.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. event will be at Site-1 Brewing, 2566 Farnam St. in Omaha. Tickets are required as space is limited; register via Eventbrite<\/a>. The event is appropriate for ages 12 and up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched in 2013 by UNMC, the Nebraska Science Festival allows participants to discover the importance of science and how it is intertwined in their daily lives. The annual festival, held each April, features science-related activities for all ages across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are excited to offer this SciFest pop-up event to explore the science of cheese, including what makes cheeses distinctive and delicious,\u201d said SciFest\u00a0coordinator\u00a0Kacie\u00a0Baum, senior manager for events and community engagement,\u00a0UNMC\u00a0Strategic Communications.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miranda McQuillan of Miranda\u2019s Cheese Love, a specialty food, cheese and spirits business in Omaha, will be on hand to discuss how cheese is made. The event is free, unless attendees purchase a $36 sampler of cheese to taste along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McQuillan, whose love of cheese began while living in France, is a certified cheese professional through the American Cheese Society, a Red Jacket Murray’s Master and has worked cheese counters in Omaha, Chicago and Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
