{"id":101338,"date":"2023-07-24T10:35:38","date_gmt":"2023-07-24T15:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=101338"},"modified":"2023-11-03T10:44:31","modified_gmt":"2023-11-03T15:44:31","slug":"resource-center-to-serve-mmi-parents-caregivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2023\/07\/24\/resource-center-to-serve-mmi-parents-caregivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Resource center to serve MMI parents, caregivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Families using services at the Munroe-Meyer Institute will have another support at their fingertips with the opening of a resource center in the lobby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The space is designed as a one-stop shop for parents and caregivers, said Maggie Neujahr, manager of the care coordination program at MMI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a place to connect with resources but also a place for parents and caregivers to interact and network with each other,\u201d Neujahr said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resource center, across from the elevators in the main lobby, will have staff on hand for designated hours every weekday. Eventually, computer stations and a printer will be available for parents\u2019 or caregivers\u2019 use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A monitor at the station will display events happening at MMI and in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the care coordination team will assist families with discussing options for their child\u2019s care, finding community resources and filling out and submitting paperwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding the space, which also will be open to MMI\u2019s adult clients, is a way to connect with more families, Neujahr said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neujahr hopes to have the space fully equipped \u2014 with computers, calendars and other resources \u2014 by fall. In the meantime, the desk is staffed daily. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Staffed hours are Mondays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Spanish speakers are available Wednesdays and Thursdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the resource desk is not staffed, a referral can be submitted at the concierge desk and care coordination staff will follow up.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The resource center, across from the elevators in the main lobby, will have staff on hand for certain hours every weekday.
