Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen will attend the 2023 Child Health Research Institute\u2019s Pediatric Cancer Research Symposium<\/a> on Aug. 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gov. Pillen will speak and participate in a panel with Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, UNMC chancellor, and Chanda Chac\u00f3n, president and chief executive officer of Children\u2019s Hospital & Medical Center. The panel will discuss public-private collaborations for improving pediatric cancer prevention and outcomes in Nebraska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plenary session also will feature pediatric cancer researchers, including keynote speaker Austin Brown, PhD, professor of pediatrics at the Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Brown will be presenting on \u201cEpidemiology of Disparities Across the Pediatric Leukemia Care Continuum.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The symposium will take place at the Truhlsen Event Center in the Sorrell Center from 8 a.m.-noon, with optional components of a poster session starting at 7 a.m. and scientific research breakout groups from 1-3 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pediatric Cancer Research Symposium is an opportunity for stakeholders in the prevention and treatment of pediatric cancer, from the worlds of medicine, government, philanthropy and science, to connect and learn about the latest research advancements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
