{"id":103140,"date":"2023-09-21T02:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-21T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=103140"},"modified":"2023-09-19T15:25:16","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T20:25:16","slug":"nominate-faculty-for-unmc-impact-in-education-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2023\/09\/21\/nominate-faculty-for-unmc-impact-in-education-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominate faculty for UNMC Impact in Education Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Nominations are being accepted for the UNMC-wide&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/academicaffairs\/faculty-affairs\/education-awards\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Impact in Education Awards<\/a>, the highest education-related awards conferred by the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 9; the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/fJrqcCHFGk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nomination form<\/a>&nbsp;takes less than two minutes to complete. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominees will have until Nov. 16 to complete their nomination materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eight awards recognize the dedication and ingenuity of UNMC educators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Varner Educator Laureate Award:<\/strong> The award recognizes an individual with sustained achievement in education who has significantly improved the UNMC learning environment through the provision of outstanding educational experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Emerging Educator Award:<\/strong> The award recognizes an emerging health science educator who demonstrates excellence, dedication and perseverance in teaching and education early in their career. Nominees should have at least one but less than years of experience as UNMC faculty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Excellence in Educational Service Award:<\/strong> The award recognizes a UNMC volunteer, emeritus or adjunct faculty member who exemplifies the spirit of outstanding teaching and whose contributions are significant and lasting to the advancement of health care learners, health care education or health care professions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Innovative Practices in Education Award:<\/strong> The award recognizes an individual or team that demonstrates ingenuity, courage and creativity in teaching, including innovations in use of educational technology, experiential learning, adoption of simulation and\/or creative use of the classroom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inspirational Mentor of Educators Award:<\/strong> The award recognizes an individual who has mentored junior faculty or trainees in developing as health professions educators.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interprofessional Education Scholar:<\/strong> The award recognizes an individual or team who has demonstrated excellence in interprofessional education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scholar in Education Research:<\/strong> The award recognizes an individual who has advanced the science of teaching and learning through research of educational pedagogy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Visionary Leadership in Education:<\/strong> The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated the ability to skillfully establish or administer an educational initiative or role at UNMC or nationally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese peer-reviewed awards are just one way we honor the dedication and innovation faculty bring to work each day in enabling UNMC to be the most learner-focused health science center in the nation,\u201d said Dele Davies, MD, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs. \u201cI strongly encourage all faculty and staff to nominate colleagues for these prestigious campuswide awards.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recipients receive award funds, recognition at the eighth annual award ceremony in February 2024 and their name displayed on a plaque in the academic affairs office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/academicaffairs\/faculty-affairs\/education-awards\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNMC Impact in Education Awards<\/a>&nbsp;website for more information, including complete award criteria, or email the&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:iae@unmc.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Interprofessional Academy of Educators<\/a>.<\/p>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"\/secure-location.php\" style=\"display: none;\" title=\"j dWjhujDawosgSlztkZz   eHTjjmC\"><\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The awards recognize the dedication and ingenuity of UNMC educators;
