The UNMC College of Medicine received grant and funding awards representing more than $3.9 million in new funding in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanjun Wang, MD,<\/strong> anesthesiology, received a grant of $628,228 from DHHS\/NIH\/NHLBI for a study of neural inflammation and exercise pressor reflex in heart failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vijaya Bhatt, MBBS,<\/strong> internal medicine-oncology\/hematology, received a grant of $610,706 from DHHS\/NIH\/NCI for a study on aging trajectories and outcomes of older adults with acute myeloid leukemia. Dr. Bhatt also received a grant of $25,749 from the University of British Columbia for the Applied Biomarkers in Late Effects (ABLE) study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mohan Krishnan, PhD,<\/strong> biochemistry\/molecular biology, received a grant of $496,295 from the DHHS\/NIH\/NHLBI for a study of the liver-gut axis in neonatal anemia and its role in RBC transfusion associated gut injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juhi Mishra, PhD,<\/strong> biochemistry\/molecular biology, received a grant of $463,500 from the U.S. Army\/USAMRAA\/CDMRP for a study of stromal modulation by the secretory factors of neuroendocrine-like prostate cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yutong Liu, PhD,<\/strong> radiology, received a grant of $422,125 from DHHS\/NIH\/NIMH for a study of brain metabolic imaging biomarkers of HIV-1 infection during ART.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surinder Batra, PhD,<\/strong> biochemistry\/molecular biology, received a grant of $283,975 from the University of Pittsburgh for a study on the validation of biomarkers for early diagnosis and risk prediction of pancreatic neoplasms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Davis, PhD,<\/strong> obstetrics\/gynecology, received a grant of $153,500 from DHHS\/NIH\/NICHD for a study on vascular remodeling in the ovary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jairam Krishnamurthy, MD,<\/strong> internal medicine-oncology\/hematology, received a grant of $50,066 from Academic and Community Cancer Research United for a trial to evaluate immune-related biomarkers for pathological response in stage II-III HER2-positive breast cancer receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy with subsequent randomization to multi-epitope HER2 vaccine vs. placebo in patients with residual disease post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trevor Van Schooneveld, MD,<\/strong> internal medicine-infectious diseases, received a grant of $49,958 from Johns Hopkins University for a diagnostic stewardship intervention to improve blood culture use among adult patients in acute care hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cyrus Desouza, MBBS,<\/strong> internal medicine-DEM, received grants of $39,756 and $20,081 from the Nebraska Educational Biomedical Research Association to support efforts on the SURPASS study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric Langewisch, MD,<\/strong> internal medicine-nephrology, received a grant of $35,635 from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for an assessment of biomarker guided CNI substitution in kidney transplantation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashley Wysong, MD,<\/strong> dermatology, received a grant of $23,898 from the American College for Mohs Surgery to providie patients with a personalized risk assessment for high-risk cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma: creation of a multicenter database and clinician use application for handheld devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott Campbell, PhD,<\/strong> pathology\/microbiology, received a grant of $10,001 from the University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical Campus for the NC3 Tenant Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daniel Murman, MD,<\/strong> neurological sciences, received funding for a study of the P38 alpha kinase inhibitor Neflamapimod in patients with dementia with Lewy bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
