Free film screening on women and the opioid crisis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNMC students and employees, Nebraska Medicine colleagues and community members are invited to attend a free film screening of “Attention Must Be Paid: Women Lost in the Opioid Crisis.”<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will be held Monday, Oct. 23, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Dundee Theater, 4952 Dodge St. Secure free event tickets here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This award-winning film explores the stories of women battling opioid use disorder and the neglect of women’s health care needs in the U.S. A panel discussion will follow the screening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film is produced, written and directed by Debra Gonsher Vinik, PhD<\/a>, who has produced 21 documentaries, six of which won Emmy awards. Her newest film, \u201cAttention Must Be Paid: Women Lost in the Opioid Crisis\u201d, will be edited into a two-hour series airing on ABC-affiliated stations and an hour-long long version airing on PBS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the screening, UNMC’s Al\u00ebna Balasanova, MD, associate professor of psychiatry, will moderate a panel discussion with: Dr. Gonsher Vinik, Marley Doyle, MD, associate professor of psychiatry and director of the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska, Kristin Daniel, PharmD, Nebraska Medicine pharmacist program coordinator, and Patty Falcone, supervisor for health promotion for the Douglas County Health Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food vendor schedule for the week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark your calendars as food vendors will be on the UNMC Omaha campus. Vendors will be located on both the east and west sides of campus, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
