The University of Nebraska Board of Regents on Friday formally approved Intermediate Design Review for UNMC’s CORE (Campus Operations and Research Excellence) Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The combined administrative building and research facility will serve as the cornerstone of UNMC\u2019s new Saddle Creek Campus at the corner of Saddle Creek Road and Farnam Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, other UNMC leaders and Mayor Jean Stothert broke ground on the facility in late October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CORE Building will support wet and dry lab-based research in critical areas (microbiology, physiology, pathology, genetics, life sciences, light chemistry) as well as computer-based research at UNMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site is in proximity to the Catalyst building, now under construction, which will bring together UNMC\u2019s UNeMed and UNeTech branches with biotech and technology startups and make the CORE Building ideal for research that leads to product and drug collaboration and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CORE Building also is being designed to accommodate a future pedestrian bridge structure crossing over Saddle Creek Road, linking the Saddle Creek Campus to the main academic health science campus.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
