The Nebraska Center for Transplantation Medicine at UNMC will hold its first ever symposium that will cover clinical care and research for all organs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNMC Transplant Symposium will be held March 8-9 at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Scott Conference Center, 6450 Pine St. Registration is open through Feb. 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The symposium is meant to provide opportunities for internal collaboration at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine and external engagement for the medical center\u2019s solid organ transplant programs. The audience includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, fellows and residents in solid organ transplantation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The keynote presenter will be Jay Fishman, MD, associate director for the Massachusetts General Transplant Center and director for the transplant infectious diseases and compromised host program at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The symposium director is Alan Langnas, DO, professor of surgery and chief of the transplant surgery division at the UNMC Department of Surgery. The program will feature highlights of current clinical activities across all organs, including pediatric programs; an update of novel clinical and research activities, including organ preservation in collaboration with Live On Nebraska; and opportunities for networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost is $50 for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine participants and $200 for attendees from outside the organization. Continuing education credit is available; see more information about that on the symposium website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
