With this $5,000 award, Dr. Shade will collaborate with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Computing to incorporate and test machine learning models for pain classification and prediction during the ecological momentary assessment of pain in older adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beth Beam, PhD,<\/strong> will be a planning committee member for a workshop on PPE for workplace safety and health. The meeting will discuss reusable textiles for PPE in hospitals to reduce costs, investigate environmental impact and prepare for pandemics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Windy Alonso, PhD<\/strong>, has been selected to receive the Midwest Nursing Research Society&#8217;s 2024 Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award for her scientific contributions that have the potential to enhance the science and practice of nursing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lynne Buchanan, PhD,<\/strong> has been elected to the position of vice president of the Nebraska Nurses&#8217; Association Board. She will serve a two-year term from 2024 through 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The following College of Nursing faculty<\/strong> were elected to the College of Nursing Faculty Standing Committee in December:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bailey Hedricks, PhD, nursing research committee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heather Kaestner, global health committee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kim Rodehorst, PhD, disciplinary appeal committee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sue Schulke, PhD, <\/strong>was named the UNMC Impact in Education Awards Scholar in Education Research. She will be honored with the other awardees at the awards ceremony on Feb. 29 at 4 p.m. at the Durham Research Center I auditorium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Karla Kerkove, PhD candidate<\/strong>, has been selected to receive the AACN Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship. The award recognizes graduate nursing students who aspire to leadership positions in academic nursing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amy Ford, DNP, <\/strong>was named a Silver &#8220;U&#8221; award winner for February. As a Silver \u201cU\u201d Award recipient, she will receive a Silver \u201cU\u201d Award Certificate, a Silver \u201cU\u201d pin, 1,000 People Are Everything points, and a Silver \u201cU\u201d shirt\/sweater\/jacket of her choosing. She will also be invited to a special Silver \u201cU\u201d Award Luncheon, hosted by UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amy Newhouse<\/strong> and <strong>Janet Nieveen, PhD<\/strong>, were the Fall 2023 Daisy Award winners. Nominees for the fall were Michele Balas, PhD; Susan Barnason, PhD; Jenna Beideck, DNP; Kristine Benda; Liane Connelly, PhD; Leigh Cook; Megan Dubas; Margaret Emerson, DNP; Jami Fulwider; Amber Golden, DNP; Josh Harvey; Jenna Hesse; Teresa Hultquist, PhD; Leah Logan; Lynne Masters; Nancy Meier, DNP; Katie Messner; Kelsey Miller; Jane Miller, EdD; Judy Moore; Missy Ofe Fleck, PhD; Melina Olerich; Liz Rasmussen; Rebecca Swanson, DNP; Renee Sullivan; Rachel Zeiger; Wendy Wells; and Sunny Wendt.
