Health Center enhances access\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>The Family Medicine Clinic at Girls Inc. Health Center is enhancing its patient access by adding new providers and expanding its hours. This has led to a full circle moment for one of its physicians.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2023\/12\/05\/new-faculty-spotlight-denai-gordon-md\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Denai Gordon, MD<\/a>, who works at the Fontenelle Health Center and Family Medicine Clinic at Girls Inc. Health Center, is extremely familiar with Girls Inc. of Omaha. Growing up, she spent countless hours at the facility after school and during summer breaks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cComing back to the Girls Inc. Health Center is a full circle moment for me,\u201d said Dr. Gordon, who also is an assistant professor in the UNMC Department of Family Medicine. \u201cIt\u2019s truly an honor to come back and serve the community in this way.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch the video below to hear Dr. Gordon talk about the impact Girls Inc. had on her growing up and why it&#8217;s important to return and serve the community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Coming home: Dr. Denai Gordon returns to Girls Inc.-Nebraska Medicine\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jMU7ZzB99vA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Expanding team and hours<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to Dr. Gordon, Angela Felton-Coleman, DNP, APRN, has joined the team at the health center, which is led by Medical Director Andrea Jones, MD, also an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Family Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am both honored and excited to be a part of such an important and historic addition to our community,\u201d Dr. Felton-Coleman said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the addition of more providers and physicians working at the health center, its business hours are also expanding. Beginning today, Feb. 12, the health center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which will be a change from the previous hours of 3 to 7 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a historic moment and a dream realized that during Black History Month we can celebrate this clinical expansion with such a diverse and inclusive team of clinicians and staff,\u201d Dr. Jones said. \u201cWe understand the importance of building trusting relationships with our patients, and we are committed to improving our North Omaha community&#8217;s health and well-being and are uniquely positioned to offer a holistic, patient-centered, evidence-based approach.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Jones adds that by addressing the social drivers of health, the health center team can ensure everyone can achieve their best possible health.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Family Medicine Clinic at Girls Inc. Health Center, located at 2811 N. 45th St. in Omaha, opened in December 2016, in partnership with Girls Inc., offering primary care services for patients of all ages and genders and providing health education and resources.
