Dr. Fletcher named to AIDS research council<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Courtney Fletcher, PharmD, has been appointed to a three-year term on the National Institutes of Health Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Fletcher, professor and emeritus dean in the UNMC College of Pharmacy and director of the Antiviral Pharmacology Laboratory at the UNMC Center for Drug Discovery, is a pioneer in HIV\/AIDS drug research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appointment was made by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nursing\u2019s northern division claims \u2018best of\u2019 award<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNMC College of Nursing-Northern Division in Norfolk has been named the top college in its region. The northern division took home first place in the \u201cBest University\/College\u201d category in News Channel Nebraska\u2019s 2024 Best of Northeast Nebraska awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angela Johnson, EdD, northern division assistant dean, said the award exemplifies the students, staff and faculty who make up the division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis honor highlights our commitment to providing exceptional nursing education and fostering a supportive learning environment for our students,\u201d she said. \u201cIt reflects the dedication and hard work of our faculty, staff and students who strive for excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recognition shows the strides taken by the northern division to bolster the rural nursing workforce, said Lepaine Sharp McHenry, DNP, dean of the UNMC College of Nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur program continues to produce graduates who are sought after by healthcare institutions across the region,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food vendors on campus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food vendors are available weekdays on the UNMC Omaha campus. Vendors are located on both the east and west sides of campus, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
