The award winners, which cross faculty, students and staff, both clinical and administrative at the med center, were recognized for their innovations and breakthroughs in improving health care training and education through the state-of-the-art simulation that iEXCEL features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pam Boyers, PhD, associate vice chancellor of clinical simulation for iEXCEL, commended the group of honorees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis group here today are true pioneers, carrying on the spirit of taking us to the next generation of learning,\u201d Dr. Boyers said. \u201cWe really value that you step out of the box, that you come to iEXCEL and say, \u2018What can we do? How can we help?\u2019 And we say, in turn, \u2018How can we help you bring learning to life.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023 award winners are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Academic Award: Cory Rohlfsen, MD, assistant professor, UNMC College of Medicine<\/strong><br>Development of HEAL OSTE, an innovative training preparing students on the teaching track through human simulation activities involving peer evaluation and self-reflection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clinical Award: Emily Delaughter, Erica Dowling, Lisa Drew, Amanda Ellis, Amanda Jensen, Jacquelyn Kellar, Kari Nosal, Nebraska Medicine<\/strong><br>Implementation of procedural nursing simulations through the creation of innovative iWall modules.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collaborative Interprofessional Education Award: Nicole Carritt, Kelli Jones Schneegass, UNMC Office of Rural Health Initiatives<\/strong><br>Creation of an interprofessional activity involving UNMC rural pathways students, who connected from several UNMC campuses simultaneously using iWall technologies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Impact Award: Sean Figy, MD, assistant professor, UNMC College of Medicine<\/strong><br>Development and implementation of interdisciplinary surgical simulations involving ENT and urology for complex cases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nebraska Medicine Award: KP Gesch, Nebraska Medicine Women and Infant Service<\/strong><br>Advancement of simulation within the Davis Global Center, including Nebraska Medicine nurse orientation, UNMC High School Alliance and UNMC College of Nursing interprofessional obstetrics simulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Student Award: UNMC Student Interprofessional Society, UNMC Interprofessional Education and UNMC Academic Affairs<\/strong><br>Development of training modules highlighting bias in health care through realistic and engaging simulation scenario videos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Teaching Technologies Award: Lisa Fuchs, EdD, associate professor, UNMC College of Allied Health Professions<\/strong><br>Ongoing collaboration with iEXCEL to produce 3D interactive visualization modules that leverage multiple visualization technologies to establish a Master\u2019s in Respiratory
