The public is invited to tour seven gardens spread across southwest and west Omaha during the Munroe-Meyer Guild\u2019s 55th annual Garden Walk later this spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, slated for June 9, supports innovative programming and research at UNMC\u2019s Munroe-Meyer Institute. Tickets go on sale May 1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Garden Walk has become a premier event in Omaha because of the unique private gardens and the number of people who view them,\u201d said Luann Rabe, president of the Munroe-Meyer Guild. \u201cAll of the women who have been involved over the last 55 years have helped to make the Garden Walk outstanding. Most of our featured gardens are created by the homeowners themselves, and they take great pride in their accomplishments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceeds from the Garden Walk have been used to support projects such as innovative virtual reality therapy for children with cerebral palsy; specialized therapy designed to bolster social skills for children on the autism spectrum; job training programs for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and a partnership with a national organization that provides low-cost mobility devices to toddlers facing mobility challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have seen outstanding results in the projects we have funded at MMI with proceeds from the walk, and that is why we gladly host this event each year,\u201d Rabe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
