{"id":111167,"date":"2024-05-06T01:54:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T06:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=111167"},"modified":"2024-05-03T11:40:16","modified_gmt":"2024-05-03T16:40:16","slug":"global-engagement-announces-photo-contest-winners-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2024\/05\/06\/global-engagement-announces-photo-contest-winners-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Global engagement announces photo contest winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>The UNMC Office of Global Engagement has announced the winners of its fourth annual International Photo Contest, which drew submissions from 17 faculty and staff and 12 students or residents, for a total of 83 photos submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The international photos were judged based on originality and creativity, photographic quality and communication of culture and place. The contest had four categories for submissions: Cityscapes\/Architecture, Landscapes\/Nature and People\/Animals, with first prize winners for each division.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UNMC Office of Global Engagement thanked everyone who submitted photos for the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Many excellent photos were submitted this year,&#8221; said Jane Meza, PhD, associate vice chancellor for global engagement. \u201cIt was difficult to choose from so many creative and beautiful photos.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Grand prize winner:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jaime Yrastorza, \u201cEye of Andros\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Student\/resident winners:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cityscapes\/Architecture first place: Jhyama Gurung, \u201cCharm of Monkey\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Landscapes\/Nature first place: Jaime Yrastorza, \u201cEye of Andros\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People\/Animals first<sup> <\/sup>place: Susan Greni, MD, &#8220;Bike ride to school&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Honorable mention: Currey Zalman, \u201cWhere law meets color: a spectrum\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Honorable mention: Susan Greni, MD, \u201cElectronic Garden by the Bay\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Honorable mention: Jaime Yrastorza, \u201cOver the
